Episode Review: The Vampire Diaries - As I Lay Dying

WARNING: This review contains SPOILERS
The Vampire Diaries season 2 came to a close this thursday, with its season finale 'As I Lay Dying'. The episode contained the final answers to questions shown earlier in the season. When would Sheriff Forbes confront her daughter Caroline about being a vampire? How would she react? Would Damon survive his werewolf bite? What was to happen with the love triangle between him, Elena and Stefan? How would Elena, Jeremy and Alaric cope with the loss of Jenna? Will Katherine escape? And what of Klaus and Elijah? Well answers too those questions finally came.
For Caroline and Sheriff Forbes their encounter came towards the end of the episode, when Sherif Forbes, who was attemting to kill Damon acidently shot Jeremy. Sheriff Forbes finally began to understand her daughter, and that vampires aren't what she was brought up to believe. Witnessing her daughter trying to save Jeremy, and learning about how her daughter felt, the two finished their part in the episode in a hug.
For Damon and his werewolf bite, the end seemed clear. But for fans, they knew that there would be a way he could be saved, and they were right. A well know Vampire Diaries fact, is that a vampire blood can heal a human, however it doesn't work the same way for vampires. But Klaus being a mix of an original vampire and part human, his blood is different. By giving himself to Klaus, Stefan was able to save Damon, but at a price. He now has became a "wing-man" for Klaus. Which is definintly something we will see more of next season.
The biggest part of the show will always be the Elena, Damon and Stefan love triangle, and for Elena and Damon fans the season finally had some major moments for them, including a kiss, once Elena initiated. While caring for Damon, when all hope seemed lossed, a moment sure to be used in many fan videos happened. Damon amitted his love for Elena, and although she did not say i love you back, she responed with a kiss shortly after. "I know you love Stefan, and that it will aways be Stefan, but i love you, you should know that"
"I do"
And while all this, Stefan was doing whatever possible to save his brother. Next season, will definintly be interesting, as Stefan won't be around. Will anything further happen between the two?
The loss of Jenna in the previous episode was hard or Alaric, Elena and Jeremy, who have all suffered loss already in their lives. Elena and Jeremy have once again lossed a parent. Now they want to be normal, and try to move on with their lives. But as they have already learned, it will take time to recover. Alaric, has once again lossed someone he loved, its different that with Isobel, who became a vampire, before finally dying, but still he has shown not to have very much luck with women. He drinks, trying to forget, but is forced back into reality when trying to save Damon.
As for Katherine, she finally had a chance to escape, when Klaus told her to bring the blood to Damon, and as she was on vervain she was able to leave and not return. She then repaid Damon by rather than running and not returning like she would have in the past, and brought the blood to him.
"You got free?"
"Yep, finally"
"And you still came here?"
"I owed you one"

And finally for Klaus and Elijah, who escaped in the previous episode. Klaus reunited Elijah with the rest of their family, by betraying him, by stabbing and killing him. Now Klaus, a hybrid, both vampire and werewolf is free, and invisible. He forced Stefan into drinking bags of blood, trying to bring out the old Stefan, to become his wing-man. Stefan has seemed to be back to his old ways, as he can't control himself with human blood. He is like a drug addict, who has recently slipped and fallen back with the drugs.
The next season will be full of new questions, and eventully new answers. Each episode is sure to be as, or more amazing than the ones of season two. What will happen to Klaus and Stefan? Will Elena and Damon become more than friends? What will happen with Jeremy, who in the last moments of the episode saw both Vicki and Anna? Will Caroline and her mother say close? Even answering big questions the season finale has brought many more exciting questions to the table. What will happen next?
